Bantayan Island
Bantayan is a small island (16km in length and 11km in width) in the North of Cebu that was badly hit by Yolanda Typhoon back in 2013. But now, it is difficult to see the damages that were caused 5 years ago. People really enjoy this lively island made of 3 municipalities: Santa Fe, Bantayan and Madridejos. Among the locals, this island is famous for its delicacy: the bulad. This is a dried fish whose smell can be quite disturbing for unused people. Filipinos usually fry it again before serving it.Bantayan is also famous for its festival that takes place every year during holy week, it is one of the most festive place during this time of the year, and that’s probably why so many people head there. It’s a great destination away from the city where you can enjoy a long white sand beach.

Malapascua is another one of these nice and quiet islands in the North of Cebu. This one only stretches about 2.5km in length and less than 1km in width, that’s why you don’t see any car there, only a few bikes and motorbikes. With its few resorts and dive shops it’s the best place to relax and escape the city. Malapascua is a very small island, you can just walk if you want to visit it and go around. It’s one of the favorite spots for divers since they can watch the thresher shark there as well as the mandarin fish.
